Create a Video Using Avatars

Avatars give your videos a face—choose a public presenter or design your own from text or image.

Updated yesterday

Public vs. Custom Avatars

There are two types of avatars available in Visla:

  • Public Avatars: Ready-made characters available on all plans. No upload or customization needed.

  • Custom Avatars: Personalized avatars created from your text descriptions or photos. Available on Pro plans and above.

Custom avatars are ideal for branded content, multilingual presentations, internal comms, and outreach where a personal or on-brand face is needed.

Creating & Using Avatars

Custom Avatar Creation

Step 1: Generate an Avatar Image
You can create avatars by:

  • Text Description – Describe traits (age, gender, ethnicity, appearance). Visla generates 4 image options.

  • Upload or Snapshot – Upload a photo or take one with your camera (front-facing, mouth closed).

Step 2: Create a Motion Sample
Give your avatar a name, choose a voice and language, and generate a motion preview to see how it performs.

Using Avatars in Videos

AI Agent Workflow:

  1. Provide source materials (script, URL, etc.)

  2. Choose a public or custom avatar

  3. Select a voice (optional)

  4. Enable or disable full-motion avatar preview

💡 Tip: Disabling full-motion preview saves credits during early drafts. Enable only when finalizing.

FAQs

  • Can I create an avatar of myself?
Yes, with Business or Enterprise plans. Upload a photo or take one with your webcam.

  • Can I use my own voice?
Yes, pair any avatar with your cloned voice.

  • Do avatars speak other languages?
Yes — select a language when assigning voice.

  • Do I pay for avatars every time I use them?
Yes, you’re charged for each second an avatar appears in your video. However, avatar creation is a one-time cost.

  • Can my team reuse avatars?
Yes, custom avatars in paid workspaces are shared across members.

  • What if we downgrade our plan?
You keep the two most recent avatars. Older ones become inactive but won't break completed projects.

  • What happens to projects using inactive avatars?
If motion was rendered before downgrade, they’ll export fine. If not, the avatar won’t appear.

Cost-Saving Tips

Reuse Avatars
Pay once for creation. Use in unlimited videos.

Disable Full-Motion Previews While Editing
Only turn this on once your script is final.

Use “AI Dynamic Layout” NOT "Avatar Full-Screen" or "Overlay B-Roll"
This layout mixes avatar and B-roll scenes to avoid using the avatar in every shot, reducing voice-sync time and saving credits.

Limit Re-Renders
Edit everything first. Re-render only when needed.

Mix B-roll + Avatar
Use avatars only in key moments. Let voice-only B-roll cover the rest.
